I am illustrator Ayumu Sato.

I am an illustrator who mainly creates artwork based on “sports.”

I create artwork featuring a wide variety of sports, including baseball, combat sports, sumo, soccer, basketball, track and field, and more.

When creating my artwork, I try to make work that gives energy to the people who see it and allows them to feel the excitement and passion of sports.

・Illustrations for “From the Front Lines Overseas,” a regular feature in Bungeishunju’s Sports Graphic Number

・Promotional illustrations for “2Energy,” the official energy drink of the combat sports organization RIZIN, sold by 2foods

・A double-page spread illustration for the “Loin d'ici” section of the French magazine FUTUR

I have had the opportunity to work on these projects.

Since 2023, I have also occasionally exhibited my work, holding a solo exhibition once a year and participating in POP UP events at clothing stores.

This is how I work every day as a sports illustrator.

I would also like to write a little more about myself personally.

As for when I started drawing,

I was born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1999, and I started drawing when I was very young, influenced by my older brother.

I loved drawing in kindergarten and elementary school, but I hardly drew at all when I was in middle school.

When I entered high school and began thinking about my future, I decided that I wanted to have a career related to drawing, and I started drawing every day.

While steadily continuing both my high school studies and drawing, I entered the Department of Design in the Faculty of Arts at Tokyo Polytechnic University.

At university, I studied illustration. I learned so many things there that I feel I would not be who I am today if I had not attended this university.

After graduating, I began working as a freelance illustrator, which I continue to do today.

I started creating sports artwork in 2024. Before that, I created artwork combining people and animals, which is why animals appear relatively often in my current sports artwork.

As for why I create sports artwork,

I started creating sports artwork because I enjoy watching sports and have always admired athletes.

Because of this, I myself have very little experience playing sports.

I became interested in watching baseball in middle school, influenced by my older brother, and became interested in watching combat sports when I was a university student.

Now, I watch many different kinds of sports.

I have supported the Yokohama DeNA BayStars since I was in middle school.

When it comes to combat sports, I love RIZIN and boxing.

I also like sumo, track and field, F1, and tennis.

So, that is a little about Ayumu Sato.

I will continue doing my best to create artwork and goods that I hope everyone will enjoy.
