What Are Giclée Prints? / ジークレー版画とは?
Thank you for visiting. I’m Ayumu Sato.
Many of you may not have heard of giclée prints before, so I would like to introduce them here.
Giclée prints (giclée printing) are,
fine art prints produced using high-resolution inkjet technology.
Giclée means “spraying of ink” in French.
By printing with 10–12 colors of highly lightfast pigment inks onto specialized paper, the prints have vivid and beautiful colors. With proper storage conditions, they have excellent archival qualities, with resistance to fading for several decades to over 100 years.
Because each edition is produced in a limited number and supervised by the artist themselves, giclée prints have a sense of rarity and are recommended for collecting.
I, Ayumu Sato, mainly create my artwork digitally, so I produce many printed works such as giclée prints and risograph prints, with giclée prints being one of the main forms of my work.
Giclée prints faithfully reproduce the colors and details of my digitally created artwork, making them works that can be said to directly reflect my artistic intentions.
That concludes my introduction to giclée prints.
They are recommended both for yourself and as gifts. Please take a look.
Ayumu Sato
